Tips for a Beautiful Garden

Backyard gardens can look beautiful. Not everyone is born with a green thumb. Be prepared to put a lot of work into getting your garden just the way you want it. Here are some tips on obtaining a garden that is beautiful and the envy of all of your neighbors.

Beautifying Your Garden

  1. Know Your Garden Size- It is important that you are aware of the size of your garden. You will be able to tell the nursery employee the dimensions so that they will be able to advise you on the amount of plants that you will need. Making sure that you talk to a nursery assistant will ensure that you do not waste your money on purchasing too many plants.
  2. Choose a Color Scheme- Flowers come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Not all colors go well together. Too much color can make your garden look like an eyesore. Make sure that you choose either a warm or cool color scheme and add one or two plants of the opposite color hue to provide contrast.
  3. Choose Plants with a Good Root System- Choose plants that have a good root system. This, of course, does not mean to choose plants that have their roots all sticking out of the bottom of the pot. Nor does it mean to choose young plants with thin, weak stems. Look for plants that have a thick or healthy looking stem, have healthy foliage, and new plant growth.
  4. Don’t Wait to Plant- If you happened to have bought plants from the nursery, do not wait too long to plant them. In order to decide where to plant them, place the potted plant in a location that you think is suitable. Do this until all of your potted plants are laid out. Move them around until you are satisfied with their placement. Then go ahead and plant them. If you are unable to plant them right away, make sure that you keep them watered and in a shady area until you are ready to plant them into the ground.
  5. Ask for Advice- Nursery employees know their stuff. Make sure to ask them for gardening advice. They would be able to advise you on the best plants for your garden based on your region.
  6. Use the Proper Gardening Tools= Use the proper gardening tools for planting your plants. Plant snips, garden rakes, and a small hand shovel will help you in planting, aerating the soil, and also trimming your plants properly.
  7. Remember that all plants do not thrive under the same conditions. Therefore it is advisable to seek guidance from an experienced gardener or someone who works in this industry. By doing so, you will be spending your money wisely on plants that will thrive in your garden and make your garden beautiful.
